Bansal selected as finalist for 3MT Competition

Kanika Bansal

UPDATE: Congratulations to Rehabilitation Science Doctoral student, Kanika Bansal, for coming in second place in the 2020 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition!

The University of Florida Graduate School held this year’s competition virtually via Zoom, and required all participants to prerecord their presentations.

You can watch Kanika’s presentation in this YouTube video from minute 9:37 to 12:44.

Kanika’s presentation, entitled “Quantifying community ambulation post-stroke using an accelerometer-GPS device,” is based on her ongoing dissertation study, which is focused on objectively quantifying community walking in the everyday life of individuals with stroke using the novel pairing of an accelerometer and a GPS device. The GPS device allows Kanika to specifically parse out community steps from those taken at home.

This research will be fundamental in designing better, stronger interventions to improve community walking outside the home in individuals with stroke.

Great work, Kanika!
