About Daniel C Herman

Dr. Herman received a BS with Highest Honors in both Chemistry and Genetics at the University of California at Davis, after which he completed his MD and PhD (Biomedical Engineering) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Virginia and fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the University of Florida. He has been a faculty member at the University of Florida since 2013.

Research Profile

Dr. Herman has an active research program with current studies on sports biomechanics related to performance and injury risk, the effect of baseline neurocognition and concussions on biomechanics and injury risk, the effect of protective headgear in women’s lacrosse, and the effect of different image guidance on outcomes after geniculate nerve radiofrequency ablations for knee osteoarthritis. He has received several grants to fund his research include from the National Institutes of Health, and his work has been recognized with several awards, including the O’Donaghue and Excellence in Research Awards from the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the NCAA Research Award from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
