Josh Yarrow, PhD, CSCS, research health scientist at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, and Co-Principle Investigator Emily Fox, PT, DPT, PhD, NCS, research assistant professor in the UF Dept. of Physical Therapy and Brooks Rehabilitation research scientist, have been awarded a $300,000 Crag H. Neilsen research award to assess the effects of combined Testosterone Replacement Therapy and Locomotor Training on walking function and bone and muscle health, in men with spinal cord injury.
The study will occur over the span of two years and will be conducted at the VA and Brooks Rehabilitation. Also included in the study, Geneva Tonuzi, MD, medical director of the Brooks Spinal Cord Injury Program & Cybernic Treatment Center, who will provide medical oversight of procedures at Brooks Rehab.
