RSD student receives Military Service Scholarship and Distinguished Alumni Award

James Wersal, RSD student receiving two awardsCongratulations to James Wersal, a first-year RSD student, who recently received two awards: the PHHP Military Service Scholarship and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Springfield College.

Wersal, who is mentored by Dr. Sherrilene Classen, professor and chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy, believes it is fundamental to address the value of occupational therapy leadership to enhance collaboration, accessibility and effectiveness. These characteristics reflect the many responsibilities he held while serving in the US Armed Forces.

As a result of the time he served in the US Army, Wersal will receive a $500 award funded by a donor who wanted to recognize the brave men and women who have served in the Armed Forces and thank them for their service. The Military Service Scholarship applies to Wersal as he served in the Army for eight years holding several positions ranging from Signal Platoon Leader to Brigade Automations Officer.

Additionally, Wersal will provide a short discussion on his life trajectories and answer any questions that current Springfield College students have as part of the Distinguished Alumni Award from his alma mater.

Again, congratulations on these accomplishments!
