Dr. Shakeel Ahmed was recently published in the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal, alongside Department of Physical Therapy faculty, Drs. Danny Martin and Barbara Smith. Their article, “Inspiratory Muscle Training in Patients with Prolonged Mechanical Ventilation: Narrative Review,” discusses the negative effects of prolonged mechanical ventilation and how inspiratory muscle strength training can be used as a promising strategy to promote ventilator weaning.
